Don't have time?

Gaining accreditation with a framework level should not be a drawn-out process.

That's because the framework asks you to reflect on your own planning for teaching and learning. This is work that you are already doing.

Finding time to do this is about using time effectively.

Use staff meetings

A principal on the Sunshine Coast encouraged all of his teachers to seek ICT Certificate accreditation.

To give them time, he temporarily cancelled his weekly staff meetings and encouraged his staff to use that time to work together on their applications.

To keep in touch with school news, the principal used his school intranet to review the information he would normally present at staff meetings.

Agree on sessions before or after school

Another principal worked with his teachers to set aside one-hour coaching sessions before the start of the school day.

All of his teachers jumped at the chance to construct their digital portfolios during these gatherings.

It's about quality curriculum programs

For the ICT Certificate, you need to develop a unit or program embedded with ICT. At the Digital Pedagogy Licence level, you need to implement your unit or program and collect evidence on how ICT has enhanced student outcomes.

Use opportunities such as planning meetings to work collaboratively with other teachers. Take time to consider how you can effectively embed digital learning experiences in your unit or program.
