ELearning Program of Girls and ICT

The eLearning Program of Girls and ICT builds on the Girls and ICT Strategy 2005-2008, based on the Girls and ICTs Framework for Action of the 2003-2004 (new window) 961k Adobe PDF document of the ICTs for Learning strategy.

2008 marks the final year of the project.

All resources, models of supporting girls and case studies will continue to be available for use in supporting girls in every school to realise their potential for success in ICT careers and studies.

Participants

The program is specifically designed for regional coordinators and teachers who coordinate girls and ICT activities in schools.

Learning intentions

The program seeks to:

  • change attitudes about ICT careers and study opportunities at all levels: schoolgirls, parents, teachers and teacher aides and careers guidance officers. The message is 'ICT is fun, people-oriented and can take you anywhere'
  • change the practices of parents, teachers, teacher aides and careers guidance officers to make the teaching and use of ICT at school and at home more inclusive
  • increase engagement of girls with ICT by providing access, appropriate experiences and opportunities for advancement for girls with ICT.
