ICT Drivers

Overview

The four ICT Drivers provide the planning framework for the School ICT Index and underpin the Smart Classrooms strategy. Each driver is necessary to meet the challenges of learning in the 21st Century.

Enabling Teaching and Learning focuses on integrating ICT into subject and curriculum areas and building community support to expand outcomes for students.

Developing Professionals focuses on developing the knowledge, skills and abilities of teachers to facilitate the use of ICT as a tool for learning.

Supporting Learners provides curriculum and technical support that will allow teachers to concentrate on the core business of teaching and learning.

Building Infrastructure builds the hardware, software and connected environment that allows students, teachers and the community to engage with each other and the wider world.

Main objective

To provide a standard framework for use in planning, reporting and evaluating school progress in the implementation of the Smart Classrooms strategy.

Achievement of the objective

The objective is attained by:

  • identifying and describing the scope of each driver
  • reviewing the suitability and relevance of the drivers
  • use of the drivers as a framework in all initiatives relating to the development of planning, evaluation and reporting activities.
