ICT Support Services for Schools

Latest news

Visit the ICT Support Services for Schools Online Community to learn more and share the experiences of the pilot schools.

Overview

ICT Support Services for Schools (ISSS) will be enhanced through:

  • 10 Regional Technology Managers to provide leadership and direction to schools in implementing and using ICT resources
  • the ISSS program of work, which will assist schools in making their ICT sustainable by increasing the level of centralised support and management while reducing the overall support costs for schools.

In the next 18 months, a program of work comprising four inter-related projects will be delivered to schools:

  • a centralised Service Centre will provide a single point of contact for ICT support services for schools
  • a new Managed Operating Environment (MOE V2.0) will help reduce ICT maintenance overheads for schools
  • the Network Maximisation project will investigate ways of managing and prioritising network traffic to ensure schools have access to sufficient bandwidth to support teaching and learning
  • the Identity Management project will introduce effective and streamlined security and authentication processes to provide students, teachers, school support staff and parents with secure and simplified access to information and services appropriate to their roles.

The program of works is being piloted by a number of schools in 2007.

Objective

ICT Support Services for Schools will help make ICT integral to learning by ensuring schools gain support for all aspects of their ICT environments.
