Latest news

The new corporate intranet, OnePortal, has now been deployed to over 70,000 corporate staff in the Education portfolio including 1300 principals and school-based staff with the Training/TAFE portfolio to follow.
Eventually, OnePortal will replace EdInfo.
However, OnePortal offers more features than any intranet solution previously used within the department.
OnePortal provides a range of tools that can help staff network and collaborate online.
As we bring work teams onboard, training will be provided to selected staff members who will become power users. These power users will be available to support their colleagues to discover and use the new features OnePortal offers.
Also, familiarisation sessions will be made available to all staff.
Those people responsible for publishing and approving information to the intranet will be trained later in the year.

Overview
OnePortal will be your 'virtual front door' to web based and departmental content.
It aims to create an interactive experience by allowing you to build your own personal profile - 'My Site'. My Site will allow you to have all your commonly used links, favourite websites, emails, calendar, wikis and other frequently used tools in your own private online work area.
OnePortal uses a number of the world's leading safety measures to maximise its security. In particular, it uses COMODO security certificates, which encrypt information that is sent from people's web browsers to OnePortal's website server. Many financial institutions also use this type of security to maintain the privacy of sensitive information such as credit card numbers and online banking passwords.
Combined, OnePortal and Intranets in Schools will transform the way the Department and Education Queensland schools interact with information.
Schools will access the Learning Place, OneSchool and a host of other online educational and administrative resources through OnePortal, making it the hub that unites all Smart Classrooms initiatives.
Smart Classrooms' vision for OnePortal
- In the future, OnePortal will provide a secure anywhere any time gateway to information and resources.
- It will become a single point of access to department information and resources.
- It will better connect you to your colleagues in schools and corporate offices through a streamlined system.
- It will provide you with the latest web tools using Microsoft Office SharePoint Server.
- It will create opportunities for you to build an interactive online experience tailored to your needs.

OnePortal eases work pressures
Coordinating your teams' schedules and collaborating on important projects is as simple as logging onto the network.
That's the new and exciting reality of Department of Education and Training's (DET) highly-anticipated intranet – currently being rolled out to all staff.

The Professional development branch are coming to grips with OnePortal, Manager Deb Kember and Leanne Chilver.
Entitled OnePortal, the system boasts more features than any intranet previously used by the department; including giving users the ability to set-up their own team sites and work remotely.
Like thousands of other departmental employees, the Professional Development branch is already making the most of OnePortal.
'We may only be in the exploratory stage of things at the moment, but we are managing to find our way around pretty easily,' said manager Deb Kember.
'There are so many great functions with OnePortal, and together they really enhance and make for a more efficient way of working.'
'It's slowly becoming an integral part of how we function.'
Since gaining access to the system several months ago, the team has utilised the benefits of the discussion board, the document library and has set up electronic team calendars.
'Our team is currently split over two levels so we have found the discussion board is a great tool when it comes to getting feedback on projects,' said Mrs Kember.
'This way the whole team sees everyone's feedback.'

Enterprise Architect Darryl Sim really enjoys the ease of OnePortal.
Set to replace EdInfo, OnePortal is now accessible by more than 5500 corporate users with school-based staff to be brought online within the first half of the year.
As more work teams are granted access, all staff will have the chance to attend familiarisation sessions, enabling them to learn how to use the functions.
For technological expert and Enterprise Architect Darryl Sim, it is OnePortal's ability to store important documents in a central work space that he finds useful.
'In this department we continually collaborate on large documents which means we don't have the ability to email them,' said Mr Sim.
'With team sites we now store them in the document library and use the version control function to make changes – there's no longer the need to save the files on a USB stick.
'OnePortal team sites also allow me to work collaboratively with other ICT architects across DET and to easily share the evolving Enterprise Architecture with others working on the project.'
