Can a teacher aide apply for accreditation within the Smart Classrooms Professional Development Framework?
No. The framework is an initiative targeting teachers. The requirements for demonstrating the levels within the framework involve planning, facilitating and assessing student learning. A teacher aide should not be responsible or accountable for these procedures.
How long does accreditation with the Smart Classrooms Professional Development Framework last?
Accreditation with the ICT Certificate, the ICT Pedagogical Licence and the ICT Pedagogical Licence Advanced is recognised for a period of three years. Information about pathways and opportunities to maintain accreditation after three years will be available from the Smart Classrooms website in 2008.
I have a post-graduate degree in information technology, eLearning, computer education or other related course. Can I be recognised through recognition of prior learning (RPL) and be accredited with the ICT Pedagogical Licence based on my qualifications and previous experience?
No. Accreditation with the ICT Pedagogical Licence is through a digital portfolio moderation process. If you have post-graduate qualifications, you may draw upon your studies and experiences in developing your digital portfolio.
For university accreditation, I participated in the professional development pathways trial of the ICT Curriculum Integration Course in 2005. Do I automatically receive my ICT Pedagogical Licence?
No. All applicants for accreditation with the ICT Pedagogical Licence must go through the digital portfolio moderation process. You may choose to include items from your portfolio from the RPL trial in your digital portfolio.
I was a Master Trainer or participant in the Intel Teach Program 's Essentials or Thinking with Technology Course. What accreditation am I eligible for within the Smart Classrooms Professional Development Framework?
If you have successfully completed the requirements for either course of the Intel Teach Program, you will be issued an ICT Certificate.
To seek accreditation with the ICT Pedagogical Licence, you will need to undertake the digital portfolio moderation process. You may choose to use your unit plan from either course of the Intel Teach Program as an item in your portfolio if it has been implemented and aligns with the expectations for work at the ICT Pedagogical Licence level.
I am a teacher-librarian, head of curriculum, head of department, deputy principal, principal or other non-classroom based teacher.Can I apply for accreditation within the Smart Classrooms Professional Development Framework?
The framework was developed for classroom teachers. However, some teachers in non-classroom positions have gained accreditation. To determine your suitability, read the portfolio pack for the level with which you would like to seek accreditation. This will determine whether you can demonstrate the expectations for that level in your practice.
I train students and teachers in ICT skills. Can I apply for accreditation within the Smart Classrooms Professional Development Framework?
The framework is about effective pedagogic practice using ICT in a curriculum context. It is not about technical skills in using ICT. It is not possible to gain accreditation within the framework based on ICT skills training.
