Flying Start Induction Toolkit

The Flying Start induction toolkit is now available for beginning teachers to access from the Education Queensland Internet. Permanently employed beginning teachers and temporary teachers with contracts longer than one term will receive the induction toolkit by mail. All other beginning, returning and supply teachers and their mentors are welcome to download the resource from the Professional Development Branch website.

The Flying Start induction toolkit has a staggered distribution to cater for staff appointments. The toolkit will be posted to staff care of their school address.

The Flying Start induction initiatives

1. The Flying Start toolkit for beginning teachers
The Flying Start induction toolkit focuses on six areas - My employer; Me, Myself, I; My school, My teaching space; My students; Commitment to professional development. The resource is designed to enable materials to be added as part of a professional development portfolio.

2. The Flying Start ideas for beginning teacher induction programs
The Flying Start induction ideas brochure is designed to support school leaders in designing induction programs. It complements the Flying Start induction toolkit for beginning teachers.

3. A new gateway for beginning teachers and mentors on the Learning Place resource centre, the Curriculum Exchange
The Beginning, Establishing, Returning and Supply teachers' gateway on the Curriculum Exchange has sample teaching resources to provide practical support for beginning teachers.

4. A new award in the New Professionalism program
The New Professionalism award for beginning teachers acknowledges the efforts of second and third year teachers who have demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities in supporting their colleagues.
