Public servants represent a diverse group of officers within the Department of Education, Training and the Arts, including administrative, professional and technical officers and school support staff, such as Teacher aides, Schools Officers (previously called Janitors/Groundspeople) and Business Services Managers.
This group of employees plays an important role in offering expert support to schools in discipline areas such as strategic policy, student support, payroll and human resources, information technology, curriculum, resourcing school administration and the day-to-day running of the department and its relationship with the public.
Professional development for this group of employees includes the Middle Management Project Management initiative and the Public Service Training Initiative (PSTI) - a program which is identified and supported within the current Enterprise Bargaining agreement for particular classification levels.
Other initiatives include compliance training for the Code of Conduct and Occupational Health and Safety.
