Education Support Qualifications

Between 2002 and 2009 a suite of qualifications in Education Support, developed and accredited in Queensland, were available to teacher aides.

The Queensland qualifications are now incorporated into the Community Services National Training Package, CHC08. The national qualifications are now recommended for Queensland teacher aides.

Teacher aides who hold the original qualifications are not required to update. The original qualifications remain valid.

The recommended qualifications for teacher aides are now:

• CHC30808 Certificate III in Education Support
• CHC41708 Certificate IV in Education Support
• CHC51308 Diploma of Education Support

These qualifications are endorsed for education support workers throughout Australia and are recognised nationally.

An easy way to view the qualifications is through the Job Roles tab in the Community Services and Health Industry Skills Council Competency Matrix.

Information for the Teacher Aide role provides access to the detail of each qualification and contact details for all Registered Training Organisations delivering the courses.

There are skill sets for each of the courses. These are not part of the course. They are suggestions for those who wish to develop additional skills without undertaking a whole course.
