Restart Teaching

The department developed the Restart Teaching online professional development program to support Queensland state school teachers meet their renewal of registration requirements External Link with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).

Specifically, the program supports participant teachers meet requirements for:

Restart Teaching is a Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) endorsed RTT program.

Program content

Restart Teaching is a 20-hour program, comprising five online modules.

The fully online program is delivered through the department's eLearning environment The Learning Place. It assists returning teachers to understand the current curriculum frameworks, teaching and learning practices, and legislative and legal responsibilities that are central to working with students in contemporary Queensland state school settings.

The course runs for 13 weeks, with the addition of an initial orientation week. Participants will work with an experienced online facilitator to complete the program. Each facilitator is a current qualified working teacher.

Program requirements

The Restart Teaching program is open to all:

To receive a Restart Teaching certificate of completion, all mandatory activities must be completed within the 13 week duration of the course. Please note: the course runs during school term only. No course work is set over the school holiday periods.

Program completion

On completion of the Restart Teaching program, participants will be issued with a certificate. Participants must submit this certificate to the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) to remove the RTT condition from their registration. Alternatively, teachers may use the certificate as evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Program cost

The program cost is $440 (including GST). Payment details will be emailed to successful applicants in the week commencing Monday 19 February 2018. All course fees are due by Friday 2 March 2018.

Program registrations

The Semester 1 Restart Teaching program intake will begin on Monday 26 February 2018. Registrations are now open.

Applicants will be assessed for suitability and registration will be confirmed within two weeks.
