The department has an obligation to provide induction to all employees under the Public Service Act 2008, and the Public Service Commission Directive 21/10 - Employee Performance Management.
Induction is for all employees at all career junctures, at the organisational, regional and local levels.
The DET approach to induction is characterised by three principles:
Resources are being developed to support the induction of employees with diverse needs in a range of workplace contexts. These include:
These resources are for all employees and will assist leaders, managers and supervisors to develop comprehensive induction programs for their school, TAFE or local business unit.
Most of the resources are currently in development and will be launched in Semester 2 2012.
A OneChannel series for beginning teachers will be piloted in Term 1 2012. The series will give beginning teachers access to live and on-demand sessions via web conferencing on induction topics including:
