Adjustments are the changes, supports or modifications that can be made to enable all students to learn and demonstrate:
Adjustments can be made across any or all of the six component areas of the curriculum:
Some adjustments may be necessary throughout a student's educational career while other adjustments may only be needed for a short period of time.
It is important to take into account the requirements of the Qld Studies Authority
regarding adjustments and special provisions in school-based, statewide and national testing.
In order to undertake adjustments to the teaching and learning environment, it is important to first understand the characteristics of diverse learners.
The characteristics of diverse learners applies to all students, not just those with disabilities.
Impairment specific adjustments are outlined below. These are a guide only. It is important to liaise with the student's support team for additional possibilities and/or alternatives that may work well in the classroom/school.
Additional information regarding adjustments can be accessed via the Disability Services Support Unit (DSSU) Professional Community website and via the QSA
