A number of human, physical and information resources are available to support students within their classroom program.
Human resources include teacher aide time, AVT or SEU support, specialist support from guidance officers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists or physiotherapist and parent networks. Other teachers in the school may also be a valuable resource if they have supported similar students in previous classes.
Physical resources may include:
Disability Services Support Unit (DSSU) administers a state-wide loans facility. This facility comprises both short-term and long-term loan collections of specialised resources and equipment for use with students with disabilities. A broad range of equipment and resources are available including assessments, programming resources, positioning and mobility aids, assistive technologies, and adaptive equipment for activities of daily living.
Information resources include internet sites created by the department and local specialists, texts and handouts provided by specialist staff, and knowledge gained through discussions with families and other teachers.
