All state schools will provide parents with at least two written reports each year which outline their child's achievement to that point in time. These reports, to be written in 'plain English', provide information that complies with the Australian Government requirements for all Years 1-10 student reports. To assist schools to comply with the requirements of the Australian Government, a common format for student reporting was introduced in 2007 for all state schools. This common format in the form of standard templates was developed for Years 1-10. Set out below and based on the Key Learning Areas are completed examples of student reports, formats for each of the reports and templates that schools may use to complete individual student reports.
To support the implementation of these student reporting requirements, the format of the standard templates will be included in SMS for 2008 for those schools which use SMS for student reporting. Whilst a school may choose to use their own or a commercial software package to produce the reports, it will be necessary for all schools to implement the format of the standard templates in 2008, regardless of what software is used.
Schools in which OneSchool has been deployed will use the reporting functionality in the OneSchool application to report student academic achievement. OneSchool will be deployed in Queensland state schools during 2008.
Schools may also choose to use the Word templates provided below.
Some minor changes have been made to the following documents to include information about privacy, National Assessment Program for Literacy and Numeracy for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 and Year Level.
The following examples are provided to guide the completion of student reports.
The formats presented below guide the layout of student reports for the various year levels. Schools should refer to the Frequently Asked Questions for information about what changes can be made to the format of student reports and also the reporting of strands, subjects etc. In the following formats, the sections highlighted in yellow represent some of the areas where schools can insert school and student specific information.
