Travel and Accommodation Allowance for School-based Apprentices and Trainees
Education Queensland provides financial assistance to subsidise additional expenditure incurred by school-based apprentices and trainees who travel specified distances to attend off-the-job training which is required to be undertaken by them in conjunction with their apprenticeship or traineeship training arrangements. All state school school-based apprentices and trainees registered under the Training and Employment Act 2000 who have to travel more than 100 km return to attend off-the-job training are eligible to claim assistance.
- Allowances are provided for attendance at the closest training provider that provides the course of instruction for the particular training program;
- Travel assistance only can be claimed for single day attendance;
- Subsidy rates for land travel are:
| Zone 1 | up to 50 km (one way) | not eligible |
| Zone 2 | between 51 km and <650 km | 15 cents per km |
| Zone 3 | between 650 km and <2000 km | 19 cents per km |
- Subsidy rate for accommodation is $50.00 per day;
- A ceiling dollar value limit for a twelve month period applies for each school-based apprentice/trainee of up to $1500.00 for Zone 2 and up to $2550.00 for Zone 3. Contact the Senior Phase of Learning Team prior to commencement of any further training if it appears these limits will be exceeded;
