Facility management

Managing land, storage, or living space within premises, and of acquiring, constructing, fitting-out, managing, maintaining, protecting, transferring, and disposing of land and buildings. Also includes waste and pollutant removal and cleaning of schools.

Procedures

• FCM-PR-001: Asset Maintenance

  Identifies responsibilities regarding the Asset Maintenance Program and special maintenance programs for DET facilities. Responds to government Maintenance Management Framework which applies to the maintenance of Queensland Government buildings, all state schools, Early Childhood Education and Care facilities and Employee Housing.
  
  

• FCM-PR-003: Management of Asbestos Containing Material in DET Facilities

  This policy provides an overview for the management of asbestos containing material (ACM) in Department of Education and Training (DET) facilities. Detailed procedures and responsibilities have been included in the Department's Asbestos Management Plan (AMP) which is to be read in conjunction with this policy.
  
  

• FCM-PR-004: School Swimming Pools - operation and management

  Identifies responsibilities and strategies regarding the maintenance and operation of state school swimming and hydrotherapy pools to support a safe and healthy pool environment and optimal service delivery.
  
  

• FCM-PR-006: Water Efficiency Management and Compliance with Queensland Water Commission Requirements

  Outlines processes to support the management and implementation of water efficiency measures for a sustainable school / TAFE Institute sites in accordance with the requirements of the Queensland Water Commission.
  
  

• FCM-PR-007: Energy Management and Conservation

  This procedure supports the management and implementation of energy efficiency measures to reduce energy consumption, improve energy conservation, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions for a sustainable school and institute environment.
  
  

• FCM-PR-008: Management of caravans and camping on Queensland school sites

  This procedure provides guidance to school principals on operational considerations in relation to caravan and camping activities on Queensland school sites.
  
  

• FCM-PR-009: School Managed Facility Projects

  Schools involved in the planning, documenting and delivery of school facility and capital works projects need to ensure they meet the relevant departmental and legislative requirements. Following the instructions, steps and links included in this procedure will allow them to do this.
  
  

• FCM-PR-010: Mobile Telecommunications Facilities

  The Mobile Telecommunications Facilities Policy communicates details on the treatment of mobile telecommunication facilities that may impact education and training facilities. New mobile telecommunication facilities should not to be erected or operated on school or TAFE property. In addition, the policy establishes a separation buffer (safety zone) is required between a school or TAFE boundary and any external mobile telecommunications facility.
