Abstract: This is a simple narrative in which the two skylarking lice star alongside two girls who are engaged in matter-of-fact discussion about the nuisance of head lice and effective treatment. The conditioner and combing treatment is described in this book which has been purpose-written to educate young students about simple strategies for managing a perennial problem.
Pedi and Osis take their names from the scientific term for head lice, pediculosis. They are thrilled to find themselves a good clean head of hair in which to frolic and lay eggs. The head belongs to Belinda who, we are expressly told, has lots of friends and is clever: a clear message that no-one is immune from 'nits'. The text, mostly dialogue, is printed on pastel pages. The illustrations on the facing pages do not offer any further information but are large and clear enough to be shared in a class reading. Queensland Health's Managing head lice at home
package supports the treatment described.
