Health and safety

Implementing, co-ordinating, and monitoring workplace health and safety and associated legislation throughout department and schools. Includes monitoring, preventative measures and establishment of committees. Also includes provision of compensation to people injured while proceeding to, or from, work or school, during working or school hours, or on department's premises. Includes rehabilitation of injured workers and administration of student medication.

  Details Department of Education, Training and the Arts (excluding Arts) obligations under Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003, including provision of workplace rehabilitation to employees with a work-related injury/illness and guidance for provision of workplace rehabilitation to employees with a non-work related medical condition.

  This procedure details options to reduce the risk of injury to staff performing manual handling tasks associated with assisting movement impaired students or other students requiring physical assistance to access the curriculum or perform daily living tasks.
