School action

Introduction

As the 21st century unfolds, economic and technological changes demand new knowledges, skills and adaptabilities. At the same time far-reaching social and cultural shifts are occurring. What can schools do?

We can educate for healthy, non-violent relationships and better outcomes for boys (and girls), helping them to be active, happy and successful individuals and family and community members, now and into the future. A critical understanding of gender will help.

All students deserve this kind of education, but this isn't easy or simple work. It demands the questioning of familiar situations and behaviours that are strongly supported and reinforced by many institutions and practices.

So how should school action proceed?
