At the time of verification the statewide verifier will determine:
This decision will be guided by the following factors:
All verification review dates will be recorded on AIMS by the statewide verifier. It is important for schools to check whether both Criterion 1 and Criterion 2 need to be reviewed or only Criterion 2. The school team and parents can request a review at any time.
The Verification Review Date Report on AIMS can be used to assist school personnel to plan their review process. This report allows the school personnel to track their verification reviews by identifying those students whose verifications are due for review in the next 12 months and which verification review dates have passed or expired.
For a review of verification, schools follow the same steps as for the initial verification process as outlined in the DET Framework for Identifying Students with Disabilities table on the last page of the EAP Handbook (new window) 522k
. The completion of a new EAP Consent Form is not required for a review of verification.
Expiry of Verification Records
It is important to ensure information regarding a student's verification record is current and accurate. If a verification review date is specified on AIMS, the school will need to submit the appropriate documentation to the EAP Verification Team by this date.
All EAP verification records on AIMS that are 2 years past the review date will automatically be converted to a status of 'Verification Expired' and be inactivated. A new disability category record will automatically be created with a status of 'Awaiting Verification'.
The verification process will need to be completed for this disability category. If the new verification request for this disability category is accepted by the statewide verifier, the student's new disability category record will have a status of 'Verified' and be considered for resource downloads.
If a student's only disability category record is inactivated, the overall verification status for the student will be 'Inactive' and not eligible for Profile. The verification process and the EAP Profile will need to be completed for the student's AIMS record to be considered for resource downloads.
For students identified in more than one disability category, as long as one of the disability records has a status of 'Verified' and eligible for Profile, the overall verification status will remain as 'Verified' and the Profile will remain active. The student's AIMS record will still be considered for resource downloads. Only the verification process will need to take place for the expired disability category.
