Today we were up at 4.45am to pack up and get ready to leave Turkey. Our home for the past few nights (Tuscan Hotel at Guzelyali) has been great with the staff really looking after us. We had a long bus ride into Istanbul complete with thunderstorms and pouring rain. A highlight was the street vendors weaving through traffic selling bread and souvenirs to passing cars. Not so much of a highlight, the traffic that we sat crawling in for more than an hour as we approached the city.

Our arrival at the airport was our last chance to enjoy all things Turkish before we set off for Paris. We arrived in Paris late in the evening after a delay due to the storms and got the bus to our hotel in Rouen at 11.00pm. Sleepy but excited about exploring the World War 2 battlefields at Normandy tomorrow.
