Review of Teacher Education and School Induction Project

A review of teacher education and school induction programs is one of several projects described in the implementation plan of the Green Paper A Flying Start for Queensland Children. Its purpose is to review and report on how teachers are prepared for professional practice in Queensland and to provide timely advice for improving teacher preparation and induction into the profession.

On 27 April, 2010, the Minister for Education and Training approved the appointment of Professor Brian Caldwell and Mr David Sutton as joint leaders of the review.

Professor Brian Caldwell is managing director of Educational Transformations Pty Ltd and a Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne. He was co-director of a national project for Teaching Australia on future focused education planning for schools. Professor Caldwell was also a co-consultant on the DET review of Smart Academies.

Mr David Sutton is a former Principal, Brisbane State High, and Principal in Residence, Queensland University of Technology, which is a schools outreach function across a number of faculties.
