The Commission for Children and Young People Working with Children Check (Bluecard) and Work Experience
- From 27 January 2004, a Blue Card is required by:
- Providers of alternative education programs, their employees and volunteers.
- Providers of flexible arrangements, their employees and volunteers.
- Alternative education programs are for young people who have been suspended from school for more than 5 days. (Education (General Provisions) Act s30)
- Flexible arrangements are those which enable students to take part in activities outside the school's usual educational program. (Education (General Provisions) Act s114A & 114B)
- Work Experience placements are neither alternative education programs nor flexible arrangements. Therefore, employers involved in Work Experience placements (as per The Education (Work Experience) Act 1996) are not required to obtain a Blue Card
for the purposes of providing work experience placements.
