Purpose

The purpose of this session is to help participants develop knowledge of the structure and content of the Reading Developmental Continuum and confidence in mapping. Participants will also have opportunities to reflect on their assessment practices.

Outcomes

Participants will:

• develop knowledge of the key indicators and indicators of the Reading Developmental Continuum;
  
• develop understanding of the terminology associated with the Reading Developmental Continuum;
  
• map indicators of student reading behaviour using the Individual Student Profile;
  
• share and discuss assessment practices.

Further professional development

• Hold year-level meetings to discuss students ' reading development, and reading assessment practices.
  
• Arrange for a videotape or an audiotape to be made of a reading lesson. Play and discuss this at year-level meetings.
