Purpose

The purpose of this session is to help participants understand the intervention process and strategies as identified in Intervention Guidelines: Literacy and Intervention Strategies: Reading and Writing. Participants will also develop confidence in planning intervention activities for small groups and individuals.

Participants will:

develop knowledge of the recommended intervention strategies;
understand how to select strategies to meet students' learning needs;
gain experience in planning intervention programs using student folios.

Further professional development

Set aside some time at year-level meetings to share intervention strategies that teachers have used successfully in the classroom.
Arrange to observe colleagues working with small groups and individuals.
