This site is a highly recommended site for GOs, students, teachers, and parents checking on current employment prospects and related information for specific occupations. Neatly set out and user-friendly, the site provides information under headings such as size of occupation group, weekly earnings, job prospects, main employers, fulltime availability, main age group, gender breakdown. There are plenty of other useful sections to explore on the site.

OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) External Link
The OECD groups 30 member countries sharing a commitment to democratic government and the market economy. Its work covers economic and social issues with Education as a major focus. The 2004 meeting of OECD Education Ministers considered 'Raising the Quality of Learning for All' and made significant recommendations for the reforms needed in national career guidance services.

ACTU Worksite External Link
This is a website belonging to the Australian Council of Trade Unions. It has many features and would be a good resource for class activities related to unions, employee rights, workplace health and safety issues, etc. Features include a work experience diary, specific information on some occupations (limited at present), fact sheets on issues related to unions and employee rights, activity sheets, and a quiz page.

Young Workers Advisory Service External Link
This is the website of a new statewide service for young people under 25 years. The service offers advice on all work-related matters. Young people can access free and confidential information, advice and advocacy on a range of issues including employment conditions, work contracts, discrimination, workplace bullying, sexual harassment, etc. Telephone access to the service is 1800 232 000.
