SWPBS is a structured, long-term, whole-school professional development program. It is guided by a school leadership team with the school principal and an SWPBS coach actively involved at every stage of the program.
The role of the school leadership team is to guide the school in the implementation of schoolwide positive behaviour support.
SWPBS is implemented in a school over a three to five-year period and must involve:
SWPBS is not a specific model but a compilation of effective practices, interventions, and change strategies that have been demonstrated to be effective and efficient. Schools that implement school-wide systems of positive behaviour support focus on taking a team-based system approach and teaching appropriate behaviour to all students in the school.
