Information for religious leaders

How can I determine if my faith group is able to deliver a program of religious instruction at a school?

You contact the principal at each school where you wish to provide a program of instruction. The principal of each site indicates if you have right-of-entry and may provide you with a letter which confirms there are students who are members of your faith group in attendance at the school.

I want other representatives accredited by me to provide religious instruction in the local schools where our faith group has right-of-entry. What do I have to do?

There are two ways this can be done. You can:

What responsibilities do I have to enable a principal to facilitate religious instruction for my faith group in the school?

You are required to determine the capacity of your faith group to provide a program of instruction at the school. You decide if your faith group is going to have a single arrangement for religious instruction or if you are going to work in a cooperative arrangement with other faith groups that have right-of-entry at the school. You also authorise the program of instruction which will be delivered to students who attend your faith group's program of instruction.

Once your faith group has committed to deliver religious instruction at a school you are required to appoint a coordinator to manage the delivery of the program. The coordinator will provide the principal with current information regarding the capacity of the faith group to have available approved instructors to visit the school for religious instruction. This procedure is outlined in Form D of the Religious Instruction in School Hours policy.

In situations where a faith group has elected a cooperative arrangement a coordinator must be nominated to work on behalf of the cooperative. In addition to providing the principal with Form D which outlines the capacity of the cooperative to deliver religious instruction the coordinator will ensure the principal has a current Form E which identifies all faith groups, who have right-of-entry at the school, who are working in the cooperative arrangement.

Which policies of Education Queensland are obligatory for all instructors to be made aware of?

Where do I find out more about the Working with Children Check conducted to determine if a person I accredit as a representative of my faith group to be an approved instructor is eligible for a blue card?
