Discovering Democracy is an intersystemic Commonwealth-funded civics and citizenship education project with links across the curriculum including: SOSE, History, Business Studies, English and Technology.
The Project Background (new window) gives an overview of the project since 1998 while the Project Materials (new window) offers a comprehensive look at all the materials that have been provided free of charge to all schools throughout Australia.
In line with their responsibilities, each State and Territory has received funding from the Commonwealth-funded Discovering Democracy program to support teacher professional development and project activities in schools across all sectors of primary and secondary schooling within their State or Territory.
In November 2000, Queensland received funding to develop an intersystemic project entitled Discovering Democracy: Partnerships at the Local Level. The project is a joint initiative of Education Queensland, the Catholic Education Commission and the Association of Independent Schools of Queensland Inc. and will run until June 2004.
