Queensland School Curriculum Council - "Studies of Society and Environment Curriculum Development Project" - has developed Years1 to 10 Studies of Society and Environment Syllabus and associated curriculum materials including sourcebook guidelines, initial in-service materials and sourcebook modules for the Key Learning Area of SOSE. It provides a continua of learning through core learning outcomes and supports planning for learning and assessment.

SOSE explores environmental, cultural, economic and political systems in a variety of times and places. The major focus of SOSE is the study of human interaction in a variety of places and times and cultures. SOSE encourages young people to be active participants in their world.

The Australian Red Cross - "Community Challenge Kit" - a resource that guides students through a community needs analysis and assists them in using local resources to meet the needs found. It mobilises young people to be an active part of their community and focuses on setting a goal and working together to achieve that goal.

Department of Local Planning and Government - "2004 Local Government Elections" - a community education and awareness program about the role of local government and the local government electoral process. A brochure, "Why we need Councils" is the first in a series of resources that will be produced as the project proceeds. A CD Rom package, "Local Councils", has been produced to assist Councillors and local government officers undertake presentations to school community groups. Th eCD may be available to schools.
