Australian Professional Standards for Teachers

Improving teaching quality is the key to improving student achievement. The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers guide what teachers need to know and do so that students achieve their best.

Pedagogical framework

Each school is required to have a pedagogical framework that is collaboratively developed with the school community. This acknowledges the evidence that research-validated pedagogy - implemented consistently across a school setting and supported by instructional leadership - improves student performance.

Pedagogical framework(departmental staff only - login required) resources and materials have been developed for state schools to support their work around pedagogy.

Online coaching modules

The Department is developing a series of five online coaching modules in conjunction with the Queensland College of Teachers, to support early career and experienced teachers. The modules are designed to develop effective pedagogical practice and strengthen teacher content knowledge in priority areas.


Teachers use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to transform student thinking and learning, giving students greater control over how, where and when they learn.
