The Learning Place

All state school teachers and students learn online through the Department of Education's secure eLearning environment.

The Learning Place provides staff and students access to an innovative range of collaborative tools, digital resources and online spaces to support teaching and learning, collaboration and networking.

What can you do on the Learning Place?

The Learning Place supports contemporary teaching practice to improve student learning outcomes. Teachers and students can:

What is available on the Learning Place?

Staff space

Build a professional profile, network with teachers, discover and create resources and learning activities.

Student space

Support students to learn using blogs, multi-media, digital resources, learning objects and authoring spaces.


Author and publish digital content in an edStudio. Use edStudios for collaborative projects, portfolios, professional communities and eTexts.


Store and publish images, audio and video files to support learning. Media can be used in edStudios.

Learning pathways

Create, collate and share digital resources relating to a particular topic, unit or subject.

Web conferencing

Participate or moderate a web conference to connect students and staff to experts in the field or collaborative global projects.


Delivers live and on-demand educational programs via web conferencing.

Virtual classrooms

Create a virtual classroom in eLearn to support lesson activities, units of work, assessment, homework, projects, discussions and collaboration.

Student courses

Set up a pre-packaged course related to a curriculum area to support student learning.

Staff Courses

Complete courses to improve and enhance your knowledge of teaching and learning. Self-paced and facilitated courses are available on the course calendar.
