Trademarks e.g. a company's logo, are protected under the Copyright Act. Schools should seek the permission of the Copyright owner before using a trademark.

When schools engage persons to create new school logos, principals should always ensure that a written agreement is entered into whereby the State of Queensland ("the State") owns the copyright of the logo.
