Publish your Joomla site

After you've done some work on your site, you'll be ready for it to go live - that is, when someone types in your school address, the Joomla site will be the one that is loaded.

Note - you need to be the MIS administrator at your school to use this method. Alternately the files can be renamed through an FTP client using the webusr.XXXX account for your school.

  1. Log into MIS with your MIS username and password.

    MIS logon screen

  2. Click on the "Manage My School" Link on the left hand side of the MIS homepage.

    Manage My School

  3. In the popup window that results, click on the www folder to enter your school's webspace.

    Manage My School

  4. You will have an index.html site from your previous, non-Joomla site, and a _index.html file provided by WebCentral when Joomla is installed.

Note: If your site is missing the _index.html file a replacement file can be downloaded here. Right-click on the link, select "Save Target as", save it to your desktop, then upload it into your site using the "Browse" button.

    Index Files

  5. Tick next to index.html and in the "Rename" section type in oldindex.html and click on the "Rename" button.

    Renaming the index file

  6. Tick next to _index.html and in the "Rename" section type in index.html and click on the "Rename" button.

    Renaming the _index file

  7. Close this window and log out of MIS.

The redirection is now in place. When you go to your school site (http://yourschool.eq.edu.au ) you will now be automatically redirected to your new Joomla site.
