Adding articles to a linked "Category" from the website "Members Area" login

OPTION 1

Staff add news to other areas of the site via the current "News" Section

  1. Open "Content >> Category Manager >> New (button)"
  2. Enter the "Category Title" and name as "Music Class" (change to the name of your choice...)
  3. In "Section" select "News" and click "Save"

Staff clicking on the "Submit News" in the "usermenu" module will be able to select the new Category "Music Class" from the dropdown list of Categories for the "News" Section and submit a new page or article to this Category

To display the content submitted to this Category

  1. Open "Menu >> mainmenu >> New (button)" to create a new menu link
  2. Select link type "Blog - Content Category" and Category as "News/Music Class"
  3. Set the "Name" as "Music Class", the "Parent item" as "Curriculum" to be a sub-menu link
  4. (or connect to a Menu Item of your choice) Click the "Save" (button)

This will display in a frontpage style the news articles for the "Music Class" connected of "Curriculum" link (or what ever you chose...)

OPTION 2

Submit news to multiple categories but NOT to the main "News" section (more complicated)

  1. Create a new Section called eg. "Curriculum" in "Section Manger"
  2. Create Categories for this Section for each new Curriculum/Category you need
    e.g. Music Class
    e.g. LOTE (Italian)

Create page links to display the content submitted to these Categories

  1. Create a new menu item of type "blog - content section" on the "top" level of the "manimenu" Menu which will display articles take from all the below categories
  2. Create a new menu item/s of type "blog -content category" and choose the relevant Section/Category combination e.g. "Curriculum/Music Class" with "Curriculum" as its "Parent item".
    • This link will now slide out of "Curriculum" and display only the articles in the "Music Class" Category
    • Repeat the creation of links to each Category attaching to the "Curriculum" section

Create new "Submit" links to submit articles to these Category locations from the "usermenu"

  1. Open "Content >> Section Manager" - scroll down to the "Curriculum" Section and record the "Section-ID" number
  2. Go to "Menu >> usermenu" - select the checkbox next to "Submit News" and click "Copy" button
  3. In "Copy to Menu" select "usermenu" and click "Copy" again
  4. Open the new link and rename the "name" to "Submit Curriculum" (or whatever you named the section as...)
  5. In the "Link" field find and replace the Section-ID number (taken in step 1) next to sectionid= X and set "Parent Item" as top - Click "save" button

Now when a "Publisher" level role person logs into the "Members Area" they see a "Submit Curriculum" button and can choose the page Category from the dropdown box, create and save a new article /page to be immediately visible to the linked Category.
