Objective: To restrict page access based on MIS groups
(for example, only teaching staff or a certain year level could see a page)
Note: The MIS portion of this tutorial can only be done by your school's MIS administrator.
Log into MIS with your username and password.
Click on the "Manage My School" Link on the left hand side of the MIS homepage.

In the popup window that results, click on the www folder to enter your school's webspace.

Create a folder named "teachingstaff" (or something similar) by entering teachingstaff into the textbox under "Create Directory" and then clicking on the "Create" button.

Once this has been created click on your new folder in the right hand pane to enter it.
Below the file list (which will be empty) is the section showing the access restrictions on this folder. To set the folder so that only Teaching Staff can access it, tick next to "Group" and select the "TeachingStaff" group. Click Submit.

You will then see the permissions set on the folder. (It can take several hours for these permissions to take effect).
Upload the document or webpages that you want to restrict access to into this directory using the Upload File section.
Log into Joomla as an administrator by going to:
http://yourschool.eq.edu.au/wcmss/administrator
or by clicking on the Administrator link in your menu.
Go to Menu >> mainmenu (or quicklinks, if desired)

Click on New to create a new menu link
Select menu type Wrapper

Enter an appropriate Title.
Enter the URL of the file in the Parameters>>Wrapper URL. It will be something like: http://yourschool.eq.edu.au/teachingstaff/info.html

Click "Save" ![]()
When clicking on the link, users will be presented with a logon box. Only those who enter a MIS ID and password in the correct group will be able to view the file.
