WideBayRegion Network Meeting

The second meeting of the Wide Bay network was held on Tuesday 31 March 2009 in Cherbourg. At this meeting Rhonda Chapman was elected as network Chairperson and Farron Crawford was elected as Deputy Chair. Attendance was down on the last meeting so, to raise awareness of the network, it was agreed that a two day Indigenous Education Workers conference would be held at the Gympie Conference Centre on 10 and 11 June.

Forty Indigenous Workers attended this very successful conference. Some highlights included the Traditional Owners Welcome, a key note speech by Tiga Bayles, a Message Stick Therapy session, and sessions on Embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Perspectives in Schools (EATSIPS) Awareness, Worklife Balance and Financial Planning.

Details of the next Wide Bay Networking meeting will be available soon.

The day also provided an opportunity to elect an executive team. The network is led by Annette Rutherford who will be supported by Amanda Barlow, Clem Domic and Neola Savage.

Details of the next meeting will be available soon.
