EEO census
Every new employee who joins the Department is invited to fill in an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Census form (new window) 38k 
.
The form invites employees to identify whether they belong to one or more of the following EEO groups:
- Women
- People from a non-English speaking background (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse)
- People with disability
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Australian South Sea Islander peoples.
Completing the EEO census form only takes a few minutes. New employees (new window) 23k 
will be asked to complete the 'Employee details' and 'Census details' of the form.
If you do not wish to participate, could you please tick the 'I do not wish to provide this information' box at each set of questions on the form.

The information provided on the EEO census form will assist the department to develop and implement a fair and equitable initiatives including:
- equal access to recruitment, career and training opportunities; and
- a positive culture free from all forms of unlawful discrimination
EEO details remain confidential. This information is extracted as overall workforce data and does not identify individual employees. All EEO census forms are destroyed once the data has been compiled.
