People from a non-English speaking background

The Department is committed to equal employment and career development of people from a non-English speaking background and to building supportive and inclusive workplaces where people are valued for their diverse cultures, experiences, knowledge and abilities.

Employees from a non-English speaking background make significant contributions to engaging Queenslanders in lifelong education and training and building a strong arts and cultural sector which enriches the lives of Queenslanders.

Teachers from a non-English speaking background play a significant role in motivating and supporting young people and adults to excel in their learning and in developing high aspirations for educational attainment and employment among students, families and communities.

Public sector employees from a non-English speaking background provide expertise in discipline areas such as strategic policy, student support, payroll and human resources, information technology, curriculum, school administration and the day-to-day running of the Department and its relationship with the public.
