The Reconciliation Action Plan 2009-2012 outlines the Queensland Government's commitment to have Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness and cultural capability strategies in all Government Departments. In keeping with this commitment Workforce Diversity is organising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Awareness Training for all staff to promote a greater understanding of the histories, cultures, values, beliefs, languages and lifestyles and roles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
You are invited to attend 'The Big Picture a Hidden History' an interactive workshop that explores an Indigenous perspective of Australian History and expands knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures.
In conjunction with the Hidden Histories training, it is useful to look at Crossing Cultures [an error occurred while processing this directive], the precursor to this training. Whilst this training is targeted towards schools, the content is interesting and the early part of the information is relevant beyond a school context. It also provides a starting point to understanding the Hidden Histories concept.
