Purpose
To assist schools to support Early Childhood Teachers (ECTs) to progress from provisional teacher registration to full registration.
Duration of program
This is an ongoing program, reviewed annually.
Eligibility
State schools and early childhood services are eligible.
Allocation of funds
Funding to operationalise the Early Childhood Mentoring Beginner Teacher Program in the professional learning hub sites in Rockhampton and Silkstone.
Funds allocated for:
- Early Childhood Lead Mentor to operationalise mentoring program
- operational costs (travel, administration, etc.)
Applications for mentor teachers for the program are sourced from Early Childhood and Community Engagement services with registered teachers who have been approved as mentors by the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
Applications will also be sought for experienced early childhood professionals who are not registered teachers but are seeking to be a mentor for pre-service teachers.

Recoupment policy
Funds are paid on the basis that participants are enrolled to be in the program. Recoupment may be sought if all participants and mentor teachers exit the program.
If the program ceases, any unspent funds may be recouped from the school.
How to apply
Schools do not need to apply for this funding; however provisionally registered ECTs will be required to apply to participate in this program through the program management team—Quality and Workforce; Strategy, Innovation and Programs; Early Childhood and Community Engagement.
