Online safety program

Note: This program ceased at the end of 2018.

Purpose

To assist schools with the delivery of additional or expanded Online Safety programs.

Funding is provided under a partnership through the Federal Office of the Children's eSafety Commissioner, which aims to deliver additional or expanded online safety programs in Australian schools by providers that have been certified, approved or recognised by the Children's eSafety Commissioner.

The Queensland targets under this program agreement are, 124 Queensland state schools receive 988 hours of online safety programs in each of year of agreement.

2016-18

Eligibility

Schools are selected against the criteria established for the project in the agreement between the Commonwealth and State Governments. Selection is in consultation with Regional Offices.

The criteria targets schools with identified online safety issues (reported to region and/or DoE Cyber Safety Team) and of low socioeconomic status (based on Index of Community Socio-educational Advantage (ICSEA) weighting).

Allocation of funds

Schools receive up to $4,000 based on the cost of the Online Safety Program for each school.

Total Budget for this program is $1,372,565.

Note 2: Type of Online Safety Program the school received and detail of audience:

  • a. online safety framework (e.g. eSmart schools)
  • b. Online safety programs (e.g. sessions delivered to students/parents) - how many hours of program delivery did the school receive?
  • c. Online safety professional development (PD) (e.g. for all staff/school leaders/Head of Department (HODs)) - how many hours of PD did the school receive?

How to apply

Schools do not need to apply as eligible schools are contacted directly to participate in the program.
