Purpose

Remote Indigenous Professional Development project is a Commonwealth Government initiative to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait early childhood educators in regional and remote settings to interpret and use the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) to plan for and extend children's learning.

Duration of program

2016–2017.

Eligibility

Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander degree qualified early childhood educators with extensive knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and specifically trained in the delivery of RIPD.

Allocation of funds

A fixed budget of $264,200.60 for the duration of the program.

Funding is provided to engage an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander early childhood education expert specifically trained in the delivery of RIPD and to design, develop and deliver:

  • culturally and linguistically sensitive RIPD programs in complex and remote locations
  • Indigenous mentoring programs
  • stakeholder programs
  • provide mentoring and coaching to emerging Indigenous early childhood pedagogical leaders involved in the delivery of RIPD programs
  • develop resources to support and sustain understanding and use of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).

Additional service costs budget of $16,000.

Recoupment policy

Funds are paid on the basis that the pedagogical leader remains employed at the school. Recoupment may be sought if the payment was made in error or where the pedagogical leader ceases to be employed at the school.
