The department seeks the advice of experts to ensure all policies and procedures are current to protect the health and well-being of staff, students, service providers and the community.
Advisory and reference panels
The government will continue to consult with experts and stakeholders to monitor the management of asbestos in department-owned facilities and to develop and refine information for staff, parents and the community.
The department has established two reference groups including:
- The asbestos expert advisory panel (AEAP)
Expert advisory panel members include representatives from DoE, Department of Housing and Public Works, Justice and Attorney-General and Queensland Health, an expert from QUT and the Asbestos and Related Diseases Association, as well as the department's Chief Safety and Chief Health Advisors on asbestos.

Members include industry experts, health experts and stakeholders.
