Purpose

The scheme provides Queensland Government funds to assist eligible non-state schools to provide, convert, refurbish and upgrade educational facilities or boarding accommodation.

The scheme is administered on behalf of the Queensland Government by Capital Assistance Authorities (CAAs), one nominated by the Queensland Catholic Education Commission and one nominated by Independent Schools Queensland.

Expenditure guidelines

Each CAA receives and assesses applications for capital assistance from affiliated schools, makes recommendations to the Minister for Education, makes payments to schools, monitors the progress of projects and carries out other functions as set out in the Education (Capital Assistance) Act 1993.

Funds are allocated to each CAA to assist with the costs associated with the administration of the scheme.

Refer to the Capital Assistance Scheme Guideline (PDF, 164KB) for details of expenditure guidelines and accountability requirements.
