Supporting the future of our children through reading.
Reading is a powerful tool to help children grow their vocabulary, language skills and imagination. It helps children to develop lifelong skills that will support their future growth and learning.
Parents, caregivers and community members are invited to share the joy of reading and help improve literacy for children in Queensland by joining the Ready Reading program.
As a Ready Reading volunteer, Queenslanders will have the opportunity to make a difference in their local community by supporting children's reading.
The program, in partnership with Volunteering Queensland, will provide training to ensure volunteers are supported in their endeavours to help our students to grow and develop through reading. Ready Reading volunteers will be connected to schools in the school's reading programs.
Volunteers can register with Volunteering Queensland to join the Queensland Ready Reading program.
Schools can take part in the program in a number of ways:
- engage a Ready Reading volunteer in your school
- host a Ready Reading training course at your school
- nominate volunteers from your school or community to attend a training course in your local area.
If your school would like further information or to participate in the program, please email the Ready Reading team to register your interest.
