Opportunity overview

The Department of Education International supports the development of our students as global citizens by providing opportunities for students to participate in youth forums offered by the Asia Education Foundation (AEF).

AEF's Go Global programs engage students with Asia and the world, helping them develop the skills required to navigate and succeed in a globally connected and culturally diverse world.

Go Global programs provide students with the opportunity to:

  • understand the importance of global competencies and Asia capabilities
  • explore future pathways for their higher education and career
  • deepen their understanding of local, regional and global issues and consider their role in taking action in the community and
  • explore opportunities available to young Australians, including scholarships, involvement with youth organisations and government initiatives such as the New Colombo Plan.

Asia Education Foundation will be hosting two different Go Global programs in Queensland in 2018/2019.

Australia-ASEAN Youth Forum

The Australia-ASEAN Youth Forum is an interactive simulation designed to deepen students' understanding of Southeast Asia and Australia's relationship with the region through role-play. Bringing together around 60 Year 9-11 students from different schools to discuss and find solutions to regional issues from the perspectives of ASEAN and Australian leaders.

2018 forums have now finished. Forum dates and locations for 2019 to be confirmed.
