Malaysia-Queensland Leadership program

A reciprocal principal professional development program is available in Malaysia. Queensland principals who wish to foster deep international connections for cross-cultural learning, as well as build long-term relationships by encouraging the development of international professional learning communities through strong friendships and shared cultural experience are encouraged to apply.

Opportunity overview

Principals are invited to apply for the 2020 Malaysia-Queensland Leadership Program. The program is delivered by the Malaysian Ministry of Education Government in collaboration with International Services Unit, Department of Education International (DEi) and the Commonwealth Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

Participants will host a partner principal from Malaysia for 10 days of work shadowing and professional development from 23 March to 1 April 2020 (TBC). The Queensland principals will then be hosted in Malaysia for 10 days of work shadowing and professional development from 27 June to 12 July 2020 (June–July school holidays).

Program details

Reciprocal professional development opportunity with Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Queensland Principals will be partnered with a Malaysian school leader who they will host in Queensland for 10 days between March and April 2020 (final dates TBC).

Queensland Principals will then be reciprocally hosted in Malaysia for 10 days of professional development and work shadowing between June and July (school holidays) 2020.

Ten placements are available across both primary and secondary schools. Host schools are located in a range of urban and regional areas across Malaysia.

This program is designed to enhance professional development, foster deep international connections for cross-cultural learning, as well as build long-term relationships by encouraging the development of international professional learning communities through strong friendships and shared cultural experiences.

Program cost

$1,850 – Cost to participants.
