The assistance and programs below may be available for schools and students in rural and remote locations.

State school operated residential boarding facilities support students studying away from home. Rural and remote state schools with residential facilities include:

Distance Education provides a schooling service to geographically isolated and other home–based students with limited educational choice.

Living Away from Home Allowance Scheme (LAFHAS) provides financial assistance for eligible students who are required to live away from home in order to attend school daily.

The Rural and Remote Education Access Program (RREAP) helps schools and school communities improve the educational outcomes and opportunities for students who are disadvantaged because of their geographical isolation so that their learning outcomes match those of other students.

Aspiring Teacher Grants provide financial support of $5,000 for school leavers residing in rural or remote locations who commence an undergraduate initial teacher education program.

The Queensland Academies Isolated Student (QAIS) Bursary provides financial assistance for eligible students who attend a Queensland Academy in south-east Queensland.
