Smart Choices masterclasses

In 2013 and 2014, three free Smart Choices Masterclasses were held for tuckshop convenors, volunteers and parent organisation representatives.

The Masterclasses featured:

  • skill sessions and live cooking demonstrations with Alison Taafe, celebrity chef, author, award winning culinary educator
  • a Sandwich Safari with 2013 Australian Sandwich King and former My Kitchen Rules contestant Mal Gill (2014 only)
  • food styling with Jamie Reyes (2013 only)
  • information sessions delivered by NAQ Nutrition, the Queensland Association of School Tuckshops, Brisbane Produce Markets, and the Department of Education (DoE).

Smart Choices workshops 2012

In 2012 the Department of Education, in partnership with NAQ Nutrition and the Queensland Association of School Tuckshops (QAST) delivered a series of Smart Choices workshops across the state.

The workshops provided advice and tips for tuckshop convenors, volunteers, parent organisations and schools on creating healthy tuckshop menus, supplying healthy foods and drinks at sporting and fundraising events and how to successfully market and promote these products.
